8th Annual Buddy Walk Benefitting The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville

The Down Syndrome Association of Jacksonville is excited to announce the 8th Annual Buddy Walk will take place this Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Jacksonville Beach Pavilion.  The 1-mile walk is the largest fundraiser of the year for the DSAJ and the local chapter’s goal is to raise $150,000.  Brand new this year is the 5K run, which will immediately precede the walk @ 8am.
Immediately after the walk, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy the live music, carnival games, ferris wheel, bounce houses, and great food.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and last year more than 4000 participants walked in the Jacksonville area Buddy Walk to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.  The monies raised during this event go to fund local programs and services, national advocacy efforts, and to help influence local and national policy and practice.  Last year alone, Buddy Walks across the nation raised more than $10 million.

  • The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995
