Eco-Safari Themed Charity Event to Benefit North Florida Land Trust

The North Florida Land Trust, dedicated to preserving land for conservation in seven counties, will hold a memorable charity event on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the J.Johnson Gallery, 177 4th Ave. in Jacksonville Beach Fla.

The Eco-Safari themed evening will feature a live auction for an African Safari for two and other great prizes. Catering by Liz Grenamyer, a full bar, silent auction, live music and lots of fun and surprises all for a great cause.

Upcoming Events at MOSH!

Through May 30 – Universe of Science – Experience science in all its hands-on splendor!  The Universe of Science is an interactive science exhibit comprised of individual science stations.  Children – and adults – can launch a hot air balloon, send a rocket soaring into the air, and more as they learn about sound, gravity, magnetism and other physical science principles.  Universe of Science is on display through May 30. 

Duval County Public Schools Recognizes Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, public schools throughout Duval County will be participating in a wide variety of programs and events that celebrate African-American history.

Events include book readings, guest speakers, historical re-enactments, presentations of African-American music, literature and arts, and more.

For the upcoming Art Walk, Ryan will be showing The Ladies of Club Shadow at 111 E Bay St. This painting collection highlights Ryan's technical proficiency, as well as his dedication to challenging and unique content. What's more, the subjects are all local performers.

The Cummer Museum of Art Presents A Genius for Place: American Landscapes of the Country Place Era

The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens presents A Genius for Place: American Landscapes of the Country Place Era on January 25, 2011.  The exhibition, on view through April 24, 2011, features 52 large-scale photographs of many well-known historic American estates by Carol Betsch, managing editor of the University of Massachusetts Press and written commentary by Robin Karson, founding director of The Library of American Landscape History.  From Stockbridge, Massachusetts to Santa Barbara, California, A Genius for Place exhibits seven landscape designs that were originally created as private estates, but have retained significant portions of the original layout and most are currently open to visitors.
