Arlington Community Garden tends 7 plots for the Arlington Community Services' Food Pantry, with the help of volunteers. They receive most of their seedlings from the students of Dr. Nisse Goldberg at Jacksonville University. Dr. Goldberg grows heirloom seedlings with her biology students, which are donated to their plots for the food pantry.
Since they started tending these plots in January of 2011, they have been able to donate over 130 pounds of fresh, organic fruits and vegetables grown less than 1 mile away. They have provided the Arlington Community Services' food pantry with a wide variety of produce, including mustard greens, lettuce and tomato as well as kale, cucumbers and bell peppers, eggplant, potatoes and onions, cabbage, melons and strawberries, collard greens, beets and broccoli.
