St. Vincent's HealthCare Hosted Victory in Pink 2012 | Community Spirit
For the third year in a row, St. Vincent’s HealthCare hosted Victory in Pink, a celebration of women who have fought breast cancer. The free community event, meant to bring awareness to breast cancer, was held at the St. Johns Town Center Oct. 20, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The event was designed to celebrate survivorship and highlight the journey each breast cancer survivor takes.
Breast cancer survivors from around Jacksonville along with doctors and nurses who dedicate their lives to caring for cancer patients took part in a “fashion show.” The participants took center stage as their personal stories about their cancer journey were told by Emcee, Olympic Gold Medalist and Cancer Survivor Shannon Miller.
Along with the inspirational fashion show, guests got to enjoy live music, free massages from Natural Body Spa and Shop and samplings from Ted’s Montana Grill, Maggiano’s and Smoothie King. There were also activities for the kids including free face painting. This year, for the first time, attendees had a chance to kick back and relax in the St. Vincent’s HealthCare Fan Zone presented by Ashley Furniture, Maggiano’s and CompUSA. Levy Jewelers also raffled off jewelry at the event.
Aside from the fun, the evening was also educational. Members of the public got the chance to learn about breast cancer at several St. Vincent’s booths. The St. Vincent’s Mobile Mammography Unit, the only one of its kind in Jacksonville, was at the St. Johns Town Center from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
St. Vincent’s HealthCare was proud to host the inspiring event to spread awareness and education and support the fight against breast cancer!
