RAP Debuts Free Podcast Walking Tour of Historic Riverside

City’s first MP3-based walking tour puts history in the palm of your hand

Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) has released an innovative video podcast walking tour to celebrate Riverside Avondale’s recent designation as one of the American Planning Association’s Ten Great Neighborhoods for 2010. The free, self-guided multimedia tour begins at RAP’s popular Riverside Arts Market (RAM) and concludes in the heart of “new” 5 Points. It allows tour-goers to explore a small slice of historic Riverside and experience first-hand what makes the neighborhood such a wonderful place to live, work and visit. Downloadable tours are a growing trend worldwide, but RAP’s “sound-seeing tour” is a first for Jacksonville.

Florida vs. Georgia Festivities at City Hall Pub

The Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic is almost here, and City Hall Pub is kicking off a week full of tailgating, live entertainment and nightlife.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 26th, City Hall Pub welcomes tailgaters for a pre-party and after-party for the Carrie Underwood concert. Festivities kick-off at 5 p.m. with live music, grilling on the patio, and a home-style buffet.

This Week @ RAM

This Saturday, the weather is supposed to be PERFECT for both the market AND Saturday night's movie. It will be a great day for visiting our artists and vendors, listening to some great music, and checking out the Antique Cars that will be showcased at the market!

And, we have a special celebrity on our Crossroads Stage, the one-man blues band, Mr. Delta Dave Johnson! You've just gotta see him, man, he's smooooth!

Also, I want to encourage you to "Think Pink @ RAM" this week, and wear pink in support of finding a cure for breast cancer. There will be a few special booths at RAM to provide related info and services.

Jacksonville Couple Chosen for First Times Square New Year's Wedding

Bethany Philips and Geoffrey Dubie, who live in Jacksonville,  met in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  They live in Jacksonville.

They entered a contest to be the first people ever married in a ceremony at Times Square on New Year's Eve.

After looking through nearly 2,000 entries, Get Married Media chose Philips and Dubie to say "I do" as the ball drops with the world watching.

Philips, originally from Georgia, is heading to Florida State College Jacksonville to study nursing, and Dubie, from North Carolina, is studying at Jacksonville University.

The couple chose Jacksonville to start their life together after their service in the military.
