St. Vincent’s First Care’s Medical Director Robert M. Chapa, M.D. is respected and well known for providing high-quality health care to the Northeast Florida business community. He founded Jacksonville Occupational Health over 20 years ago when he identified the need for this specialized care while working in the Emergency Department at St. Vincent’s Southside, formerly St. Luke’s Hospital.
“This is a homecoming of sorts, and a very exciting time for St. Vincent’s HealthCare and the North Florida business community as a whole,” said Chapa. “The St. Vincent’s partnership will enhance the level of corporate and industrial medical care provided through streamlined access to the hospital system, which will result in faster injury resolutions and a healthier workforce.”
According to the Florida Department of Financial Services, there were more than 3,600 reported work related injuries in Northeast Florida in 2011. In the same year, there were more than 53,000 work related injuries or illnesses reported in the state of Florida.
