Scooter Crash Investigation Off Stockton Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating what caused a man riding a scooter to lose control and slide 100 feet.

JSO said the accident happened shortly after 1 a.m. when a 29-year-old man was riding a scooter in the westbound lanes of Park Street at Stockton Street.

The rider lost control and dropped the scooter before sliding 100 feet down the roadway. According to officers at the scene, he was wearing a helmet.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue determined the crash victim was in life threatening condition and Traffic Homicide was called to scene just before 3 a.m. to investigate.

The victim was taken to Shands and the scene was cleared by 6 a.m.
