Front Porch Kind of Day

Front Porch Kind of Day

Recently my husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and thought it would be fun to take our kids and our wedding photos down to St. Augustine where we got married to take some pictures in the style of Dear Photograph.  While walking through the city, we came across a gentleman who was sitting out on his front porch in his rocking chair.  It was a perfect day for such activity.  He was sitting out there with his cigarettes and his maps.  He asked my husband to come over to him.  More specifically he asked, "Excuse me, Sir.  Could you bring your kids over here?"  He definitely got our attention with that.

The office will have no executive powers over the school system but will serve a crucial supportive function to raise private money and rally community support at a time the schools are facing cutbacks.

Painter Finishes a Piece Each Day for Entire Year

Painter Finishes a Piece Each Day for Entire Year

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- You may have heard the old cliche: "Idle hands are the devil's playground." If that's true, then Jacksonville artist Kelly Hennessey had nothing to worry about during the last year.

"I remember in the beginning thinking 'Why am I doing this'," she said, laughing.

She has been toiling in her dining room/studio since August 2010, when she got a sudden urge. "I wanted to do something that I wasn't comfortable with," she said, looking for a challenge.

So she decided she would finish one painting every day for a year; each painting done on a small tile. "It takes hours, some of these."

You can click here to see a full range of all her tiles on her blog.
